A one day seminar for Primary School and Post-primary Schools
This one-day course is provided by the Special Education Support Service (SESS) and provides an overview of Acquired Brain Injury. The content covers a wide range of topics relevant to teaching and learning and to the development of the child with an acquired brain injury in primary and post primary schools.
Course aims:

To give information about different types of acquired brain injury

To develop an understanding of what happens when the brain is injured and how it affects the pupil’s learning

To gain knowledge about potential consequences of TBI/ABI; cognitive, behavioural, physical and medical

Information for Applicants:
This course is open to:

Teachers working with pupil(s) with ABI in a mainstream class/ special class

Teachers in special schools currently working with pupil(s) with ABI

Full-time Special Education Teachers currently working with pupil(s) with ABI

Participants will require permission from the Board of Management to attend. Typically, substitution for this seminar will only be allowed to classroom teachers with primary responsibility for students with a special educational need and if it is deemed absolutely essential by the Principal

Typically substitution will only be allocated to non - substitute teachers

Payment is not available to teachers in a substitute capacity
