This seminar is designed to provide an outline of the challenges faced by students with special educational needs (SEN) in their transition from primary to post-primary school and to present suggestions and strategies that can be applied by schools in order to facilitate that transition.

 

Anticipated Outcomes

Participants will:

  • Examine legislation, policy and indicators of good practice relevant to transition
  • Explore the difficulties and challenges experienced by students with special educational needs during the transition process
  • Consider activities and strategies which may ease transitional difficulties
  • Investigate reading, resources and materials to assist in managing the transition process

This evening seminar is delivered in Education Centres. It is aimed at all teaching professionals within the primary and post-primary sector including class teachers, subject teachers, resource/learning support teachers, Principals and Deputy Principals
