AHEAD, the Association for Higher Education Access and Disability, is an independent non-profit organisation working to promote full access to and participation in third level education for students with disabilities in Ireland.

AsIAm is an Autism charity established to educate the public about autism while acting as an advocate for the Autism community in Ireland.

CARA Adapted Physical Activity Centre

The CARA Adapted Physical Activity Centre works at a strategic level to influence and support the policies and programmes of agencies involved in the provision of sport, physical activity and physical education for people with disabilities.

DARE: Disability Route to Education

The Disability Access Route to Education (DARE) is a supplementary admissions scheme for school leavers with disabilities which operates on a reduced points basis by a number of higher education institutions.

ILSA: Irish Learning Support Association ILSA holds its Annual Conference every September, and a Spring Conference in March. The 2006 Annual Conference will take place in St. Patrick's College, Drumcondra on September 8th and 9th. ILSA.jpg
INCLUSION IRELAND: (formerly NAMHI) NAMHI has recently changed its name to Inclusion Ireland. It is an umbrella group for organisations in the intellectual disability sector, all of which are listed on the site. inclusionireland.jpg
Laptops Initiative

This site is dedicated to sharing the learning from an Irish initiative aimed at enhancing literacy and inclusion in post-primary schools through the use of mobile ICT.

National Learning Network

The National Learning Network (formerly called NTDI) is Ireland's largest non-Government training organisation with more than 50 purpose built training and employment facilities catering for around 4,500 students each year. The organisation offers over 40 different vocational programmes which carry nationally and internationally recognised certification and are designed to lead directly to jobs or progression to further education.

The interim website of the National Council for Special Education has some introductory information about the work of the Council and contact details for the Council and for local Special Educational Needs Organisers.

NCTE: National Centre for Technology in Education

The PDST, Technology in Education provides ICT advice and support for teachers and parents of children with special education needs. They have significant information and advice relating to assistive technology and ICT training and resources.

SCoTENS Standing Conference on Teacher Education North & South This is the Special Education element of a site designed for student teachers and newly-qualified teachers, in the Republic and in the North. It is divided into primary and post-primary units. Its 'Teaching Strategies' page is very detailed and nicely laid out, with practical tips for the classroom. SCOTENS.jpg
