Transition from Primary to Post-primary for Students with Special Educational Needs: Challenges for the Student and Strategies for the Teacher

Key Aims

The key aims of the seminar are:

  • To introduce participants to legislation, policy and indicators of good practice that are relevant to transition
  • To explore the difficulties and challenges experienced by students with special educational needs during the transition process
  • To suggest activities and strategies which may ease transitional anxieties and difficulties concerns,
  • To provide participants with information on further reading, resources and materials to assist them in the management of the transition process
Format of Course

This is a two-and-a-half hour seminar, from 7.00 to 9.30 PM, delivered in local Education Centres in the evenings. It is aimed at all teaching professionals within the primary and post-primary sectors including class teachers, subject teachers, resource/learning support teachers, Principals, etc.
